Comic Quest at the MTG Grand Prix in Taipei
Our journey to the MTG Grand Prix in Taipei began in April, when we launched the Twelve Labours challenge. Four two and a half months, players from both Comic Quest communities (SM North EDSA and Festival Mall), fought and bled like the fabled heroes of Theros to gain the chance to battle it out for a ticket to the Grand Prix. When the dust finally settled, ten heroes and a heroine emerged to do battle one last time.
The triumphant ten met at the Festival Mall arena on the 28th of June for a titanic clash reminiscent of the gladiatorial contests of ancient Rome. The heroes fought four furious rounds that tested all of their skill and cunning in the game of Magic. All ten were valiant, skillful, and courageous but there could only be one champion. When it was all said and done, Jorrell Ang emerged victorious and his name was etched on the ticket to Taipei.
Me, Jorrell and Ian flew to Taipei on July 25 where we stayed for three days. We had a lot of fun and met a lot of new friends. Pictures do say a lot more than words and you can relive the adventure we had through these.
And the cherry on top of the cake? The Asian Green Lantern Ian Mervin Go placed 10th overall in a pool of almost a thousand players! Way to to go Ian! Congratulations! You do Comic Quest proud!
Lets do this again guys and I hope more will join us in our next adventure!
